Have you tried Mahjong?

As the calendar turns toward a new season and the idea of cozy fall nights becomes more enticing, consider joining us at the cafe for one of our newest evening offerings: Learn to Play Mahjong! Hosted by Danielle and The 717 Mahj Circle, discover the fun of the game that has become a social phenomenon!

On September 7th, from 5-7 pm, Danielle will be teaching us to play Mahjong: the Chinese game that is not only strategic and fun, but a great conduit for connection and community building. Danielle was inspired to create a business in central PA after attending an event with Mahjong Lex in Lexington, KY where she met women of all ages and had a wonderful time playing with newfound friends. It’s her hope to create a regular group of players in this area to share that same social bond with the community members here. She’s also available to lead private instruction in one-on-one or group venues. Check out The 717 Mahj Circle on Instagram!

This will be the second Learn to Play night at the cafe, and while you can’t master the entire game in just 2 hours, it’s a great opportunity to get acquainted with how it works and begin playing. At last month’s gathering, people of all ages were in attendance- including kids; all are welcome to join! While the class is geared toward adult learners, kids are welcome to come along. Danielle is hoping to plan some children-geared programming in the future!

The cafe kitchen will be open during the first hour of the event to serve food and drinks to attendees!

Keep an eye out for future “Learn To Play” evenings with us- we hope to see you on September 7th!
