Running the Café as a Mom

Being a mom and owning the café are two of my proudest accomplishments, both equally challenging and rewarding in their own ways. Running the bakery café with kids requires me to split my energy in more directions than if I didn't have kids. From unexpected sick days and  extracurriculars to everything in between, my "mom hat" and "café owner hat" have become relatively interchangeable.

The challenges are plentiful, but so are the blessings. Building a small business with the watchful eyes of my daughter and son gives the business so much more purpose and meaning. Knowing they are watching me and learning what is possible for them in their futures motivates me to work harder and pursue my goals with both passion and integrity.

They get to participate in the creative process, offering their dreams and suggestions for the café. Jane, for example, has pioneered the "Jane's Way" milk combo - a third of each milk: almond, oat, and whole milk. To be fair, most of her ideas revolve around chocolate milk. Xayvion loves to watch me bake and will assist any chance he's given. I think he'll actually be a great little chef one day. He is also an avid smoothie lover and will always be first in line to try a new smoothie combo.

As a family, we have made owning a small business part of our lifestyle and I'm so grateful that we get to experience this crazy life together!
